Terms of use

Use Helping Plate thoughtfully and verify before you go.

Effective October 12, 2026.

1. What Helping Plate provides

Helping Plate offers a community-maintained directory of food-support resources, personal planning tools, and educational affordable-meal content. The service is provided for general informational purposes. Helping Plate is not affiliated with every listed organization or recipe creator and does not determine eligibility for food assistance.

2. Verify important information

Hours, addresses, inventory, eligibility, appointment rules, and services can change at any time. Contact the organization or check its official source before traveling. Helping Plate does not guarantee that a listing is open, available, accurate, complete, or suitable for a particular need. For urgent assistance in the United States, call 211; for an emergency, call 911.

3. Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping credentials secure. Do not impersonate another person, submit knowingly false information, harass users or organizations, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, automate abusive requests, upload malware, or use Helping Plate for unlawful purposes. We may restrict or remove accounts and content when reasonably necessary to protect the service or community.

4. Community contributions

You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant Helping Plate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, moderate, and distribute that content for operating and promoting the service. You represent that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate privacy, intellectual-property, or other rights. Contributions may be edited, labeled, rejected, archived, or removed to improve accuracy and safety.

5. Recipe sources and food safety

Recipes and videos may be credited to independent creators. Their names, websites, and videos remain theirs. Helping Plate’s guides are independently written adaptations with additional substitutions, pantry-box notes, storage guidance, and budget context. Follow package directions, allergen labels, food-safety guidance, and appropriate cooking temperatures. Anyone with medical dietary needs should consult a qualified professional.

6. Copyright concerns

If you own material that appears on Helping Plate and believe it is being used improperly, send the page URL, a description of the material, your contact information, and an explanation of your rights through our contact form. We will review good-faith notices and may remove or revise material while a concern is evaluated.

7. Third-party services and links

Helping Plate links to and embeds third-party websites, maps, videos, and data. Those services are controlled by their respective providers and may have separate terms, privacy policies, availability, and content. A link or listing is not an endorsement.

8. Disclaimers and limitation

Helping Plate is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties to the extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Helping Plate and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of—or inability to use—the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits may not fully apply to you.

9. Changes

We may change the service or these terms. Continued use after updated terms become effective means you accept the revised terms. Questions can be sent through the contact page.
